Choosing a new sectional garage door for a home in Letchworth Garden City
Why does balancing matter?
A balanced door should stay roughly where you leave it part-open. If the springs are set too light or too heavy, the door wears faster and the operator works harder. Balancing is a key step we never skip.
What happens on fitting day?
The old door is taken out, the opening is prepared, the frame and vertical tracks go in, the horizontal tracks are hung from the ceiling, the panels are assembled section by section, and the springs are fitted and set. The operator is fitted last, then everything is tested.

Guide price for a new sectional garage door in Letchworth Garden City
Guide price: £2,095–£2,795 inc VAT. Prices include VAT and fitting. Building work to the opening or a new electrical circuit would be quoted separately.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
What rules apply in Letchworth Garden City?
Planning questions for homes in Letchworth Garden City go to the local district or borough council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.
In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.
Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.
