Sectional garage door installation: what matters for Welwyn Garden City garages
Do you supply doors for others to fit?
This service is supply and fit. Spring-loaded doors are dangerous to install without training, which is why we fit what we supply.
What happens on fitting day?
The old door is taken out, the opening is prepared, the frame and vertical tracks go in, the horizontal tracks are hung from the ceiling, the panels are assembled section by section, and the springs are fitted and set. The operator is fitted last, then everything is tested.

What will a new sectional garage door cost in Welwyn Garden City?
Guide price: £2,095–£2,795 inc VAT. That covers the door, fitting, removal of a standard old door and VAT; the fixed price follows the free survey.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
Planning and regulations for Welwyn Garden City homes
If your property in Welwyn Garden City is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, the local district or borough council is the authority to check with before ordering.
In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.
If the garage already has a socket near the operator position, no electrical notification is needed. A brand-new circuit is notifiable under Part P in England.

Questions from Welwyn Garden City customers
Do I need to be home?
Someone needs to be there at the start and for the handover at the end, so we can agree the details and show you how everything works.
Do I need to clear the garage?
Please clear the area just inside the opening and along both side walls and the ceiling for the length of the tracks.
Do you cover Welwyn Garden City?
Yes. We cover Welwyn Garden City, including postcode districts AL6, AL7, AL8. Installation and visit dates depend on installer availability and are agreed when you book.
Will the local district or borough council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask the local district or borough council before ordering.
