Choosing a double sectional door for a home in Letchworth Garden City
What sizes are common in the UK?
Many older double garages have openings of about 14 feet by 7 feet (roughly 4267 by 2134 mm) or 16 feet by 7 feet (about 4877 by 2134 mm). New builds vary, which is why every door is made to the measured opening rather than to a stock size.
How long does fitting take?
A double sectional door is still usually a one-day job for a two-person team, including removal of the old door, unless the opening needs building work first.

Questions from Letchworth Garden City customers
Can you replace two single doors with one double sectional?
Only if the central pier can be removed safely. That needs structural assessment and often a new lintel, which is arranged separately before the door is ordered.
Do I need more headroom for a double door?
Headroom depends more on the track and spring system than the width. Where headroom is tight, a low-headroom version is available.
Do you cover Letchworth Garden City?
Yes. We cover Letchworth Garden City, including postcode districts SG5, SG6, SG7. Installation and visit dates depend on installer availability and are agreed when you book.
Will the local district or borough council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask the local district or borough council before ordering.
