Your rights when buying a made-to-measure garage door
If you agree a contract at home, online or by phone, you usually have 14 days to cancel. Goods made to your specifications, such as a door made to a surveyed opening, can be exempt from that right once they are being made to your order, so we do not order a made-to-measure door within the 14 days unless you ask us to in writing.

The 14-day cancellation period
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, contracts made away from business premises, online or by phone generally carry a 14-day right to cancel. You must be given the cancellation information in writing.
Made-to-measure goods
Goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised are an exception. A door ordered to your surveyed size is likely to fall within it once it is being made to your order. That is why we do not place the order within the 14 days unless you ask us to in writing; if you do, you may lose the right to cancel the door and you pay for any work you asked us to start. If the cancellation information is not given, the period is extended by up to 12 months. For legal certainty on a particular contract, take independent advice.
Deposits
Deposits should be reasonable and the terms clear. Citizens Advice notes that a trader may keep some or all of a deposit to cover costs already incurred if you cancel outside any cancellation period.
