Flush and smooth sectional garage doors in Derry

Flush and smooth sectional garage doors: what matters for Derry garages

What colours work best?

Anthracite grey, black, and other dark greys are popular, as are white and light grey on rendered homes. Many ranges offer RAL colours to order.

Can the door sit flush with the cladding?

On some new builds and renovations the door can be set to line up with surrounding cladding for a near-seamless look. This needs planning before the cladding goes on.

What rules apply in Derry?

The planning authority for Derry is Derry City and Strabane District Council. A replacement garage door is usually outside planning control, but it is worth a quick check where conditions apply.

In Northern Ireland a new door within the existing opening generally needs no planning permission. Listed buildings and conservation areas are the exceptions.

Under the Windsor Framework, products placed on the market in Northern Ireland follow EU rules, so doors carry CE marking (with UKNI where a UK body assessed them). UKCA marking on its own is not accepted in Northern Ireland.
