Glazed and full-vision sectional garage doors in Derry

Glazed and full-vision sectional garage doors: what matters for Derry garages

What about privacy?

Frosted, obscured or tinted glazing infills keep the light while hiding what is inside. On full-vision doors this is the usual choice for homes.

Do windows reduce insulation?

Yes, slightly. Glazed panels lose more heat than insulated steel panels, and full-vision doors lose more again unless thermally broken frames and insulated glazing are specified.

What rules apply in Derry?

Derry falls under Derry City and Strabane District Council for planning and building control, which is the place to check if your home is listed or in a conservation area.

Northern Ireland planning rules usually allow a replacement garage door in the same opening. Check with the council planning office first if the property is listed or in a conservation area.

Under the Windsor Framework, products placed on the market in Northern Ireland follow EU rules, so doors carry CE marking (with UKNI where a UK body assessed them). UKCA marking on its own is not accepted in Northern Ireland.
