What should Sutton Coldfield homeowners know about new sectional garage doors?
What is checked at survey?
We measure the opening width and height, headroom above the opening, side room either side, the depth of the garage, and the condition of the brickwork, lintel and floor. We also look at power for an operator and anything that could get in the way of the tracks.
Do you supply doors for others to fit?
This service is supply and fit. Spring-loaded doors are dangerous to install without training, which is why we fit what we supply.

Planning and regulations for Sutton Coldfield homes
Sutton Coldfield falls under Birmingham City Council for planning and building control, which is the place to check if your home is listed or in a conservation area.
English planning rules normally treat a replacement garage door as permitted. Listed status, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and estate planning conditions are what can change that.
If the garage already has a socket near the operator position, no electrical notification is needed. A brand-new circuit is notifiable under Part P in England.

Most domestic doors are fitted in one day once the door has been made. The quote gives the expected lead time for manufacture.

Do I need planning permission for a new garage door in Sutton Coldfield?
Usually not.
