Electric sectional garage doors in Hoddesdon

Choosing an electric sectional door for a home in Hoddesdon

Can I control it from my phone?

Many current operators accept a smart module or have one built in, so you can open, close and check the door from an app. This is useful for deliveries and for checking you shut the door, though it should never replace the safety systems on the door itself.

What happens in a power cut?

Every electric sectional door has an emergency release, a cord inside that disconnects the carriage so the door can be lifted by hand. If the garage has no other way in, an external emergency release lock can be added.

What rules apply in Hoddesdon?

The planning authority for Hoddesdon is the local district or borough council. A replacement garage door is usually outside planning control, but it is worth a quick check where conditions apply.

A new garage door in an existing opening is not normally development needing planning permission in England. The exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 areas and estates where a planning condition restricts changes to the garage.

If the garage already has a socket near the operator position, no electrical notification is needed. A brand-new circuit is notifiable under Part P in England.
