Double sectional garage doors in Angus and Dundee
Looking for a double sectional door in Angus and Dundee? We cover Dundee, Arbroath, Forfar and Carnoustie and the rest of the area, measuring, supplying and fitting each door.
A double sectional garage door is a single wide sectional door that spans a two-car opening, typically around 4.3 to 4.9 metres wide, in place of two separate doors. Because it lifts vertically and parks under the ceiling, a double sectional keeps the whole drive clear and lets two cars use the full width of the opening.

What should you know about double sectional doors in Angus and Dundee?
Can a double door have a pedestrian door in it?
Some ranges offer an integrated wicket door within a sectional door. It is useful on wide doors where there is no separate side door, though it adds cost and has threshold and width limits.
How long does fitting take?
A double sectional door is still usually a one-day job for a two-person team, including removal of the old door, unless the opening needs building work first.
What sizes are common in the UK?
Many older double garages have openings of about 14 feet by 7 feet (roughly 4267 by 2134 mm) or 16 feet by 7 feet (about 4877 by 2134 mm). New builds vary, which is why every door is made to the measured opening rather than to a stock size.

What rules apply in Angus and Dundee?
In Scotland, works that do not materially change the outside appearance of a house are not usually development, so a like-for-like garage door is normally fine. The householder permitted development class for external alterations does not apply in conservation areas, so a visibly different door in a conservation area is likely to need permission, and listed building consent is a separate requirement. Your council planning team can confirm.
Planning authorities in Angus and Dundee include Angus Council and Dundee City Council.
