Commercial sectional doors for workshops and units in Farnham

Key questions about commercial sectional doors in Farnham

What are the duties at work?

Powered doors in workplaces must be safe and maintained. In Great Britain that falls under workplace and work equipment law, and in Northern Ireland under its equivalent regulations. Regular servicing with records is the practical way to show the door is kept safe.

How is it different from a domestic door?

Commercial doors open more often and are often bigger, so they use springs rated for higher cycle counts, heavier hardware and operators built for frequent use. The safety requirements for powered doors at work also apply.

Do you need permission in Farnham?

Farnham falls under the local district or borough council for planning and building control, which is the place to check if your home is listed or in a conservation area.

A new garage door in an existing opening is not normally development needing planning permission in England. The exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 areas and estates where a planning condition restricts changes to the garage.

Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.

At work, powered doors must also be maintained under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
