Commercial sectional doors for workshops and units in Limavady

Key questions about commercial sectional doors in Limavady

Which operator suits a commercial door?

Shaft-mounted operators are common on commercial sectional doors because they handle heavier doors and higher use. Three-phase power is typical, though single-phase versions exist.

How is it different from a domestic door?

Commercial doors open more often and are often bigger, so they use springs rated for higher cycle counts, heavier hardware and operators built for frequent use. The safety requirements for powered doors at work also apply.

Planning and regulations for Limavady homes

Limavady falls under Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for planning and building control, which is the place to check if your home is listed or in a conservation area.

Northern Ireland planning rules usually allow a replacement garage door in the same opening. Check with the council planning office first if the property is listed or in a conservation area.

Northern Ireland has no Part P equivalent, but electrical work for an operator should still be done to BS 7671 and certified.

Under the Windsor Framework, products placed on the market in Northern Ireland follow EU rules, so doors carry CE marking (with UKNI where a UK body assessed them). UKCA marking on its own is not accepted in Northern Ireland.

At work in Northern Ireland, the equivalent duties sit in the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999.
