Choosing a low headroom sectional door for a home in Limavady

What changes on a low headroom door?

The springs may be moved to the rear of the tracks or replaced with a different spring system, and the top section follows a tighter path. The door works the same way from outside and looks the same.

How much headroom does a standard door need?

Published figures for standard tracks run from about 100 mm to a little over 200 mm above the opening, depending on the range, the spring type, whether there is an operator and whether the door has a pass door. When that space is not there, a low headroom kit changes the track geometry and spring position to fit in less, with some systems quoting as little as 70 to 125 mm.

Planning and regulations for Limavady homes

If your property in Limavady is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is the authority to check with before ordering.

In Northern Ireland a new door within the existing opening generally needs no planning permission. Listed buildings and conservation areas are the exceptions.

Under the Windsor Framework, products placed on the market in Northern Ireland follow EU rules, so doors carry CE marking (with UKNI where a UK body assessed them). UKCA marking on its own is not accepted in Northern Ireland.
