Side sectional garage doors: what matters for Witney garages
Is it electric?
Side sectional doors can be motorised with a dedicated operator that runs along the head track. Manual versions are also available.
Can you use it as a pedestrian door?
Yes. Because the door slides sideways, you can open it just far enough to walk through, which saves having a separate side door.

Planning and regulations for Witney homes
Witney falls under the local district or borough council for planning and building control, which is the place to check if your home is listed or in a conservation area.
A new garage door in an existing opening is not normally development needing planning permission in England. The exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 areas and estates where a planning condition restricts changes to the garage.

Questions from Witney customers
Will a side sectional fit if I have a side door?
It depends where the side door is. The parking wall needs to be clear, so a side door on that wall can stop it fitting.
How much is a side sectional garage door?
As a guide, a side sectional door supplied and fitted is from £3,495, depending on size, finish and whether it is electric.
Do you cover Witney?
Yes. We cover Witney, including postcode districts OX8, OX28, OX29. Installation and visit dates depend on installer availability and are agreed when you book.
Will the local district or borough council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask the local district or borough council before ordering.
Do you also cover towns near Witney?
