Sectional garage doors with a pass door in West Sussex
We supply and fit sectional doors with a pass door across West Sussex, including Crawley, Worthing, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, with a free survey and a fixed written price for every door.
A sectional garage door with a pass door has a small hinged pedestrian door, often called a wicket door, built into its panels, so you can walk in and out without raising the whole door. It suits garages with no separate side door and wide doors that are slow or wasteful to open just to fetch something.

What should you know about sectional doors with a pass door in West Sussex?
Can every door have one?
Pass doors are only offered on certain ranges, widths and designs, and the door must be wide enough to accommodate the pass door with sections either side.
Is a separate side door better?
If there is space for a side door, it is usually easier to use and keeps the main door simpler. Where there is not, a pass door is the neat answer.
Does it affect the operator?
Yes. The operator is linked to a safety switch so the main door cannot move while the pass door is open.
Which options can you choose?
- Safety interlockStops the door running when the pass door is open.
- Hinge sideLeft or right hand.
- Low thresholdOn selected ranges.
- Lock and handleMatched to the door.
How much does a sectional door with a pass door cost in West Sussex?
Guide price: from £3,995 inc VAT. That covers the door, fitting, removal of a standard old door and VAT; the fixed price follows the free survey.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
What rules apply in West Sussex?
In England, swapping a garage door for a new one, including an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission. Permission or consent can be needed if the house is listed, if it sits in a conservation area or is covered by an Article 4 direction, or if the new door would noticeably change how the house looks from the street. On many newer estates a planning condition removes permitted development rights or requires the garage to be kept for parking, so check your planning history before changing the door or the use of the garage.
Planning in West Sussex is handled by the district and borough councils, not the county council.

Questions about sectional garage doors with a pass door in West Sussex
How much does a pass door add?
A sectional door with an integrated pass door is typically from £3,995 supplied and fitted, as it is a specialist build.
Can a pass door be added to my existing sectional door?
Not usually. The pass door is built into the door at the factory, so it is ordered with a new door.
Is there a step to get through a pass door?
Yes, there is a threshold. Low-threshold versions reduce it on some ranges.
Which towns in West Sussex do you cover?
We cover Crawley, Worthing, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Horsham, Haywards Heath, Chichester and Burgess Hill and other towns across West Sussex.
Do I need planning permission in West Sussex?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. Check with your local planning authority if in doubt.
