Sectional garage door servicing and safety checks in Moray
For a sectional door service in Moray, from Elgin, Forres, Buckie and Lossiemouth and beyond, tell us the fault and we will confirm the visit price first.
A sectional garage door service is a planned visit to inspect, adjust, lubricate and safety-test a sectional door and its operator, including the springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, seals, force settings, photocells and emergency release. Servicing catches wear before it becomes a breakdown and keeps a powered door safe.

Sectional garage door servicing and safety checks in Moray: what to expect
Why test the force settings?
A powered door that closes too hard can hurt someone. Testing the force limits and reversal is one of the most important parts of a service.
Is servicing worth it on a newer door?
Yes. Early servicing keeps the door balanced, which protects the springs and the operator, and it may be a condition of some warranties.
What does a service include?
A visual and hands-on check of every moving part, tightening of fixings, lubrication of hinges, roller bearings and springs, a balance test, adjustment of cables, seal checks, and a test of force limits, auto-reverse, photocells and the manual release.
Which options can you choose?
- Annual serviceOne visit a year.
- Written reportWhat was done and what is wearing.
- Lubrication and adjustmentHinges, rollers, springs and cables.
- Safety testForce, reversal, photocells and release.

Safety points for customers in Moray
If a spring has broken, a cable has come off or the door hangs crooked, stop using it, keep people and pets clear and do not try to force it open or closed. Leave the operator unplugged until the engineer has checked it.
A garage door fitted with an operator counts as a machine under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, whether it is at home or at work. Whoever puts the complete powered door into service must check it against BS EN 12453, including measuring closing forces with a calibrated meter, and issue a Declaration of Conformity and apply UKCA or CE marking (CE marking in Northern Ireland). That includes motorising an existing manual door, which is why a conversion is always set up and tested as a new powered door.

Can I do anything between services?
Yes. Test the auto-reverse with a soft object monthly, keep the tracks clean and dry, and watch for frayed cables. Leave springs and cables to engineers.
Do I need to service an electric garage door?
It is strongly recommended. Safety devices drift and wear, and only testing shows whether they still work.
