What does a sectional door service involve in Cambridge?

How often should a door be serviced?

For a powered door used every day, once a year is sensible. A lightly used manual door can go longer, though we would not leave it more than two years. Commercial doors that open many times a day need more frequent visits.

What does a service include?

A visual and hands-on check of every moving part, tightening of fixings, lubrication of hinges, roller bearings and springs, a balance test, adjustment of cables, seal checks, and a test of force limits, auto-reverse, photocells and the manual release.

What does a sectional door service cost in Cambridge?

This is a chargeable visit, priced up front. If parts are needed, you get the price before any further work is done.

What should you do until the engineer arrives in Cambridge?

Until the visit, avoid using a door that is noisy, crooked or heavy. If it is stuck open and you need to secure the garage, call us first; forcing a door with a broken spring or cable is dangerous.

A garage door fitted with an operator counts as a machine under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, whether it is at home or at work. Whoever puts the complete powered door into service must check it against BS EN 12453, including measuring closing forces with a calibrated meter, and issue a Declaration of Conformity and apply UKCA or CE marking (CE marking in Northern Ireland). That includes motorising an existing manual door, which is why a conversion is always set up and tested as a new powered door.
