Sectional garage door installation in South Glamorgan
Our new sectional garage door service covers South Glamorgan: Cardiff, Barry, Penarth and Llantwit Major, plus the surrounding area, with each door made to measure after a free survey.
Sectional garage door installation is the process of surveying the opening, ordering a door made to measure, removing the old door, fixing the tracks and frame, hanging and balancing the panels on their springs, fitting the operator and testing every safety feature. Done well, it is usually a single day on site after a few weeks of manufacture.

What should you know about new sectional garage doors in South Glamorgan?
What paperwork will I get?
You get the door details, warranty information and, for powered doors, the safety checks carried out at handover, plus guidance on using the emergency release.
Do you supply doors for others to fit?
This service is supply and fit. Spring-loaded doors are dangerous to install without training, which is why we fit what we supply.
Why does balancing matter?
A balanced door should stay roughly where you leave it part-open. If the springs are set too light or too heavy, the door wears faster and the operator works harder. Balancing is a key step we never skip.
Which options can you choose?
- Making goodTrims and finishing round the opening.
- Free surveyFor new doors and upgrades.
- HandoverDemonstration and safety checks.
- Old door removalRemoval and disposal included where quoted.
How much does a new sectional garage door cost in South Glamorgan?
Guide price: £2,095–£2,795 inc VAT. That covers the door, fitting, removal of a standard old door and VAT; the fixed price follows the free survey.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
What rules apply in South Glamorgan?
In Wales, replacing a garage door with one of similar appearance is normally treated as minor work that does not need planning permission. Listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and any planning conditions on your property can change that, so check with your local planning authority first if any of these apply.
Planning authorities in South Glamorgan include Cardiff Council and Vale of Glamorgan Council.
In Wales the notifiable electrical work rules are wider than in England: a new circuit, and supplies to a detached garage or outbuilding, are notifiable. If your garage is detached or needs a new circuit, the electrical work is handled by a registered electrician.
