What should Weston-super-Mare homeowners know about new sectional garage doors?
What paperwork will I get?
You get the door details, warranty information and, for powered doors, the safety checks carried out at handover, plus guidance on using the emergency release.
Why does balancing matter?
A balanced door should stay roughly where you leave it part-open. If the springs are set too light or too heavy, the door wears faster and the operator works harder. Balancing is a key step we never skip.

How much does a new sectional garage door cost in Weston-super-Mare?
Guide price: £2,095–£2,795 inc VAT. The figure includes VAT, fitting and taking away a standard old door. Your survey turns it into a fixed price.
At the free survey we measure everything the manufacturer needs, check the brickwork, lintel and floor, and agree the door details with you.
Do you need permission in Weston-super-Mare?
The planning authority for Weston-super-Mare is North Somerset Council. A replacement garage door is usually outside planning control, but it is worth a quick check where conditions apply.
In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.
Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.
