Key questions about new sectional garage doors in Nelson
What paperwork will I get?
You get the door details, warranty information and, for powered doors, the safety checks carried out at handover, plus guidance on using the emergency release.
Why does balancing matter?
A balanced door should stay roughly where you leave it part-open. If the springs are set too light or too heavy, the door wears faster and the operator works harder. Balancing is a key step we never skip.

Guide price for a new sectional garage door in Nelson
Guide price: £2,095–£2,795 inc VAT. The figure includes VAT, fitting and taking away a standard old door. Your survey turns it into a fixed price.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
Do you need permission in Nelson?
If your property in Nelson is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, the local district or borough council is the authority to check with before ordering.
A new garage door in an existing opening is not normally development needing planning permission in England. The exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 areas and estates where a planning condition restricts changes to the garage.
Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.

Questions from Nelson customers
How long does it take to install a sectional garage door?
Most domestic doors are fitted in one day once the door has been made. The quote gives the expected lead time for manufacture.
Do I need to be home?
Someone needs to be there at the start and for the handover at the end, so we can agree the details and show you how everything works.
Which parts of Nelson do you cover?
We cover Nelson across postcode districts BB8, BB9, BB10, along with nearby Colne, Burnley and Accrington. Dates are agreed when you book.
Do I need planning permission for a new garage door in Nelson?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, check with the local district or borough council.
