Sectional garage door installation: what matters for Borehamwood garages
What happens on fitting day?
The old door is taken out, the opening is prepared, the frame and vertical tracks go in, the horizontal tracks are hung from the ceiling, the panels are assembled section by section, and the springs are fitted and set. The operator is fitted last, then everything is tested.
What is checked at survey?
We measure the opening width and height, headroom above the opening, side room either side, the depth of the garage, and the condition of the brickwork, lintel and floor. We also look at power for an operator and anything that could get in the way of the tracks.

Guide price for a new sectional garage door in Borehamwood
Guide price: £2,095–£2,795 inc VAT. That covers the door, fitting, removal of a standard old door and VAT; the fixed price follows the free survey.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
Do you need permission in Borehamwood?
Planning questions for homes in Borehamwood go to the local district or borough council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.
English planning rules normally treat a replacement garage door as permitted. Listed status, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and estate planning conditions are what can change that.
Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.

Questions from Borehamwood customers
How long does it take to install a sectional garage door?
Most domestic doors are fitted in one day once the door has been made. The quote gives the expected lead time for manufacture.
Do I need to clear the garage?
Please clear the area just inside the opening and along both side walls and the ceiling for the length of the tracks.
Which parts of Borehamwood do you cover?
We cover Borehamwood across postcode districts WD6, WD7, along with nearby Bushey, Potters Bar and Watford. Dates are agreed when you book.
Will the local district or borough council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask the local district or borough council before ordering.
