What should Pontypool homeowners know about new sectional garage doors?
Why does balancing matter?
A balanced door should stay roughly where you leave it part-open. If the springs are set too light or too heavy, the door wears faster and the operator works harder. Balancing is a key step we never skip.
What paperwork will I get?
You get the door details, warranty information and, for powered doors, the safety checks carried out at handover, plus guidance on using the emergency release.

How much does a new sectional garage door cost in Pontypool?
Guide price: £2,095–£2,795 inc VAT. That covers the door, fitting, removal of a standard old door and VAT; the fixed price follows the free survey.
The survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure width, height, headroom, side room and depth, and look at power for an operator.
Planning and regulations for Pontypool homes
The planning authority for Pontypool is Torfaen Council. A replacement garage door is usually outside planning control, but it is worth a quick check where conditions apply.
In Wales a like-for-like garage door is normally minor work outside planning control. Listed buildings, conservation areas and planning conditions are the exceptions to check.
Welsh rules on notifiable electrical work are wider than England's, so detached garages and new circuits are handled by a registered electrician.

Questions from Pontypool customers
How much does installation cost?
Installation is included in our supply-and-fit prices. A typical single door is around £2,095–£2,795 supplied and fitted.
Do I need to be home?
Someone needs to be there at the start and for the handover at the end, so we can agree the details and show you how everything works.
Which parts of Pontypool do you cover?
We cover Pontypool across postcode districts NP4, along with nearby Cwmbran, Risca and Newport (Gwent). Dates are agreed when you book.
Will Torfaen Council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. A replacement garage door of similar appearance is normally minor work in Wales, but listed buildings, conservation areas and planning conditions can change that. If in doubt, ask Torfaen Council before ordering.
