What rules apply in Congleton?

Congleton falls under Cheshire East Council for planning and building control, which is the place to check if your home is listed or in a conservation area.

A new garage door in an existing opening is not normally development needing planning permission in England. The exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 areas and estates where a planning condition restricts changes to the garage.

If the garage already has a socket near the operator position, no electrical notification is needed. A brand-new circuit is notifiable under Part P in England.
