Sectional garage door installation: what matters for Chester garages
Do you supply doors for others to fit?
This service is supply and fit. Spring-loaded doors are dangerous to install without training, which is why we fit what we supply.
What is checked at survey?
We measure the opening width and height, headroom above the opening, side room either side, the depth of the garage, and the condition of the brickwork, lintel and floor. We also look at power for an operator and anything that could get in the way of the tracks.

How much does a new sectional garage door cost in Chester?
Guide price: £2,095–£2,795 inc VAT. Prices include VAT and fitting. Building work to the opening or a new electrical circuit would be quoted separately.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
Do you need permission in Chester?
If your property in Chester is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, Cheshire West and Chester Council is the authority to check with before ordering.
In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.
If the garage already has a socket near the operator position, no electrical notification is needed. A brand-new circuit is notifiable under Part P in England.

Questions from Chester customers
How much does installation cost?
Installation is included in our supply-and-fit prices. A typical single door is around £2,095–£2,795 supplied and fitted.
How long does it take to install a sectional garage door?
Most domestic doors are fitted in one day once the door has been made. The quote gives the expected lead time for manufacture.
Which parts of Chester do you cover?
We cover Chester across postcode districts CH1, CH2, along with nearby Ellesmere Port, Runcorn and Widnes. Dates are agreed when you book.
Will Cheshire West and Chester Council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask Cheshire West and Chester Council before ordering.
Do you also cover towns near Chester?
Yes. Close to Chester we also cover Ellesmere Port (6 mi), Runcorn (12 mi), Widnes (14 mi) and Winsford (15 mi).
