Sectional garage door installation in Ampthill

Choosing a new sectional garage door for a home in Ampthill

What is checked at survey?

We measure the opening width and height, headroom above the opening, side room either side, the depth of the garage, and the condition of the brickwork, lintel and floor. We also look at power for an operator and anything that could get in the way of the tracks.

What happens on fitting day?

The old door is taken out, the opening is prepared, the frame and vertical tracks go in, the horizontal tracks are hung from the ceiling, the panels are assembled section by section, and the springs are fitted and set. The operator is fitted last, then everything is tested.

Planning and regulations for Ampthill homes

If your property in Ampthill is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, Central Bedfordshire Council is the authority to check with before ordering.

In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.

Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.
