Large and oversized sectional garage doors: what matters for Worthing garages
When is a door oversized?
Anything taller than about 2.3 metres or wider than a typical double, roughly 5 metres, usually moves into larger spring and track specifications. Motorhome garages often need heights of 3 metres or more.
Do tall doors need more headroom?
A tall door needs a correspondingly long horizontal track and a suitable ceiling or roof structure to fix it to. Barns and garages with pitched roofs often have room for a high-lift or vertical-lift track that keeps the door higher up the roof slope.

What will a large sectional door cost in Worthing?
Guide price: from £4,495 inc VAT. The figure includes VAT, fitting and taking away a standard old door. Your survey turns it into a fixed price.
The survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure width, height, headroom, side room and depth, and look at power for an operator.
Planning and regulations for Worthing homes
Planning questions for homes in Worthing go to the local district or borough council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.
A new garage door in an existing opening is not normally development needing planning permission in England. The exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 areas and estates where a planning condition restricts changes to the garage.

Questions from Worthing customers
Can a sectional door go in an oak barn?
Usually. The fixing method is matched to the frame, and allowance is made for timber movement.
Can you fit a sectional door to a motorhome garage?
Yes, provided the building has the height and structure for the tracks and the door. We measure headroom, side room and depth at survey.
Which parts of Worthing do you cover?
We cover Worthing across postcode districts BN11, BN12, BN13, BN14, BN15, along with nearby Lancing, Shoreham-by-Sea and Littlehampton. Dates are agreed when you book.
Will the local district or borough council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask the local district or borough council before ordering.
