Large and oversized sectional garage doors: what matters for Banbury garages
Is a domestic operator enough?
Not always. Larger, heavier doors need an operator rated for the size, and very large doors may use a shaft-mounted operator instead of a ceiling rail.
What about oak-framed and timber buildings?
Doors can be fixed to timber frames, but the fixings and any packers have to suit the frame, and green oak moves as it dries. The survey checks the frame and the fixing positions.
Which options are available in Banbury?
- High-lift tracksUse roof height so the door parks higher.
- Shaft or rail operatorSpecified to the door size.
- Vision rowsWindows across one section.
- Heavier springsSpring sets sized to the larger door weight.
Guide price for a large sectional door in Banbury
Guide price: from £4,495 inc VAT. Prices include VAT and fitting. Building work to the opening or a new electrical circuit would be quoted separately.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
What rules apply in Banbury?
If your property in Banbury is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, the local district or borough council is the authority to check with before ordering.
English planning rules normally treat a replacement garage door as permitted. Listed status, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and estate planning conditions are what can change that.
