Large and oversized sectional garage doors: what matters for Poulton-le-Fylde garages
What about oak-framed and timber buildings?
Doors can be fixed to timber frames, but the fixings and any packers have to suit the frame, and green oak moves as it dries. The survey checks the frame and the fixing positions.
Do tall doors need more headroom?
A tall door needs a correspondingly long horizontal track and a suitable ceiling or roof structure to fix it to. Barns and garages with pitched roofs often have room for a high-lift or vertical-lift track that keeps the door higher up the roof slope.
What can you choose for your Poulton-le-Fylde garage?
- High-lift tracksUse roof height so the door parks higher.
- Shaft or rail operatorSpecified to the door size.
- Vision rowsWindows across one section.
- Heavier springsSpring sets sized to the larger door weight.
How much does a large sectional door cost in Poulton-le-Fylde?
Guide price: from £4,495 inc VAT. The figure includes VAT, fitting and taking away a standard old door. Your survey turns it into a fixed price.
The survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure width, height, headroom, side room and depth, and look at power for an operator.
What rules apply in Poulton-le-Fylde?
The planning authority for Poulton-le-Fylde is Blackpool Council. A replacement garage door is usually outside planning control, but it is worth a quick check where conditions apply.
A new garage door in an existing opening is not normally development needing planning permission in England. The exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 areas and estates where a planning condition restricts changes to the garage.
