Large and oversized sectional garage doors in Herefordshire
We supply and fit large sectional doors across Herefordshire, including Hereford, Leominster, Ross-on-Wye and Ledbury, with a free survey and a fixed written price for every door.
Large and oversized sectional garage doors are made-to-measure doors for openings taller or wider than a standard domestic garage, such as motorhome and caravan garages, oak-framed barns, coach houses and triple-width openings. They use heavier panels, springs and track sets, but work in the same way: the door rises vertically and parks under the roof.

What should you know about large sectional doors in Herefordshire?
How are lead times affected?
Non-standard sizes are made to order, so lead times can run longer than for common domestic sizes. The quote shows the expected lead time.
When is a door oversized?
Anything taller than about 2.3 metres or wider than a typical double, roughly 5 metres, usually moves into larger spring and track specifications. Motorhome garages often need heights of 3 metres or more.
Do tall doors need more headroom?
A tall door needs a correspondingly long horizontal track and a suitable ceiling or roof structure to fix it to. Barns and garages with pitched roofs often have room for a high-lift or vertical-lift track that keeps the door higher up the roof slope.
Which options can you choose?
- Vision rowsWindows across one section.
- Heavier springsSpring sets sized to the larger door weight.
- Shaft or rail operatorSpecified to the door size.
- High-lift tracksUse roof height so the door parks higher.
How much does a large sectional door cost in Herefordshire?
Guide price: from £4,495 inc VAT. Prices include VAT and fitting. Building work to the opening or a new electrical circuit would be quoted separately.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
What rules apply in Herefordshire?
In England, swapping a garage door for a new one, including an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission. Permission or consent can be needed if the house is listed, if it sits in a conservation area or is covered by an Article 4 direction, or if the new door would noticeably change how the house looks from the street. On many newer estates a planning condition removes permitted development rights or requires the garage to be kept for parking, so check your planning history before changing the door or the use of the garage.
Planning authorities in Herefordshire include Herefordshire Council.

Questions about large and oversized sectional garage doors in Herefordshire
How much is a large or oversized sectional door?
Large doors are priced on survey because size and structure vary so much. As a guide they start from £4,495 supplied and fitted.
Will a large door need a special motor?
It needs an operator rated for its size and weight, which may be a heavier rail operator or a shaft-mounted unit.
Can a sectional door go in an oak barn?
Usually. The fixing method is matched to the frame, and allowance is made for timber movement.
Which towns in Herefordshire do you cover?
We cover Hereford, Leominster, Ross-on-Wye and Ledbury and other towns across Herefordshire.
Do I need planning permission in Herefordshire?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. Check with your local planning authority if in doubt.
