Large and oversized sectional garage doors in County Antrim
Looking for a large sectional door in County Antrim? We cover Belfast, Lisburn, Newtownabbey and Carrickfergus and the rest of the area, measuring, supplying and fitting each door.
Large and oversized sectional garage doors are made-to-measure doors for openings taller or wider than a standard domestic garage, such as motorhome and caravan garages, oak-framed barns, coach houses and triple-width openings. They use heavier panels, springs and track sets, but work in the same way: the door rises vertically and parks under the roof.

What should you know about large sectional doors in County Antrim?
Can large doors be insulated and glazed?
Yes. Most large doors use insulated panels, and window rows or vision panels can be added to bring light into a long garage.
When is a door oversized?
Anything taller than about 2.3 metres or wider than a typical double, roughly 5 metres, usually moves into larger spring and track specifications. Motorhome garages often need heights of 3 metres or more.
Is a domestic operator enough?
Not always. Larger, heavier doors need an operator rated for the size, and very large doors may use a shaft-mounted operator instead of a ceiling rail.
Which options can you choose?
- Shaft or rail operatorSpecified to the door size.
- High-lift tracksUse roof height so the door parks higher.
- Heavier springsSpring sets sized to the larger door weight.
- Vision rowsWindows across one section.
How much does a large sectional door cost in County Antrim?
Guide price: from £4,495 inc VAT. Prices include VAT and fitting. Building work to the opening or a new electrical circuit would be quoted separately.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
What rules apply in County Antrim?
In Northern Ireland, fitting a new door within an existing opening generally does not need planning permission. If the property is listed, in a conservation area or covered by an Article 4 direction, check with your council planning office before ordering, as consent may be needed for changes to the outside of the building.
Planning authorities in County Antrim include Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, Belfast City Council, Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.
Under the Windsor Framework, products placed on the market in Northern Ireland follow EU rules, so doors carry CE marking (with UKNI where a UK body assessed them). UKCA marking on its own is not accepted in Northern Ireland.
