Key questions about glazed sectional doors in Canterbury
Are glazed doors secure?
Glazed panels are generally polycarbonate or safety glazing, depending on the range. A glazed door is still locked by the operator or a lock, but it naturally shows more than a solid door, which is one reason obscured glazing is popular.
Window inserts or full vision?
Window inserts are the simple choice: a row of glazed panels in one section of an otherwise solid door. A full-vision door is a different construction, an aluminium frame with glazing throughout, which lets in far more light and makes a design statement.
Options and upgrades for Canterbury homes
- Window insert rowsRectangular or decorative inserts in one section.
- Obscured infillsFrosted or tinted for privacy.
- Frame coloursBlack, anthracite, silver and RAL colours.
- Full-vision aluminiumGlazed throughout in an aluminium frame.
What will a glazed sectional door cost in Canterbury?
Guide price: £5,995–£7,995 inc VAT. That covers the door, fitting, removal of a standard old door and VAT; the fixed price follows the free survey.
The survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure width, height, headroom, side room and depth, and look at power for an operator.
What rules apply in Canterbury?
Planning questions for homes in Canterbury go to the local district or borough council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.
English planning rules normally treat a replacement garage door as permitted. Listed status, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and estate planning conditions are what can change that.

Questions from Canterbury customers
Can people see into a glazed garage door?
With clear glazing, yes. Most homeowners choose obscured or frosted infills.
How much is a glazed sectional garage door?
Adding window inserts adds a modest amount; full-vision aluminium doors are a premium product. As a guide, full-vision doors are around £5,995–£7,995 supplied and fitted.
Which parts of Canterbury do you cover?
We cover Canterbury across postcode districts CT1, CT2, CT5, CT6, along with nearby Whitstable, Herne Bay and Faversham. Dates are agreed when you book.
Will the local district or borough council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask the local district or borough council before ordering.
Do you also cover towns near Canterbury?
