Garage door motor replacement and upgrades in Llangefni

Garage door motor replacement and upgrades in Llangefni: what to expect

Is it the motor or the door?

A motor that strains, stops or reverses is often struggling with an unbalanced door, a broken spring or a sticking roller. We check the door first, because a new motor on a faulty door will fail again.

Can you replace any brand?

We can replace most domestic operators with a current unit. Using the existing rail is sometimes possible; often a complete new operator and rail is the better job.

Safety points for Llangefni customers

If a spring has broken, a cable has come off or the door hangs crooked, stop using it, keep people and pets clear and do not try to force it open or closed. Leave the operator unplugged until the engineer has checked it.

A garage door fitted with an operator counts as a machine under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, whether it is at home or at work. Whoever puts the complete powered door into service must check it against BS EN 12453, including measuring closing forces with a calibrated meter, and issue a Declaration of Conformity and apply UKCA or CE marking (CE marking in Northern Ireland). That includes motorising an existing manual door, which is why a conversion is always set up and tested as a new powered door.

In Wales a new circuit, or a new supply to a detached garage, is notifiable electrical work and is done by a registered electrician.
