Electric sectional garage doors in Oswestry

Electric sectional garage doors: what matters for Oswestry garages

What safety features should it have?

A power-operated door needs force limitation so it stops and reverses if it meets resistance, and photocells across the opening are a sensible addition so the door will not close on a car, child or pet. Doors put into service in the UK should meet the product standard BS EN 13241, with the powered-door safety requirements of BS EN 12453, including force limits measured with a calibrated meter, applied when the door is set up.

Can my existing manual sectional be motorised?

Often, yes, if the door is in good order and properly balanced. Converting a manual door to powered operation changes the safety position, so the door must be checked and set up to the powered-door standards, not just fitted with a motor.

What can you choose for your Oswestry garage?

• Smart controlApp control through a module or built-in Wi-Fi on selected operators.
• Belt or chain driveBelt drives are quieter; chain drives are hard-wearing.
• Battery backupKeeps the door running for a few cycles in a power cut on supported operators.
• PhotocellsInfra-red safety beams across the opening.

What will an electric sectional door cost in Oswestry?

Guide price: £2,095–£3,495 inc VAT. That covers the door, fitting, removal of a standard old door and VAT; the fixed price follows the free survey.

The survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure width, height, headroom, side room and depth, and look at power for an operator.

Do you need permission in Oswestry?

Planning questions for homes in Oswestry go to Shropshire Council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.

In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.

If the garage already has a socket near the operator position, no electrical notification is needed. A brand-new circuit is notifiable under Part P in England.
