Electric sectional garage doors in Maesteg

Choosing an electric sectional door for a home in Maesteg

What happens in a power cut?

Every electric sectional door has an emergency release, a cord inside that disconnects the carriage so the door can be lifted by hand. If the garage has no other way in, an external emergency release lock can be added.

Can I control it from my phone?

Many current operators accept a smart module or have one built in, so you can open, close and check the door from an app. This is useful for deliveries and for checking you shut the door, though it should never replace the safety systems on the door itself.

Planning and regulations for Maesteg homes

The planning authority for Maesteg is Bridgend Council. A replacement garage door is usually outside planning control, but it is worth a quick check where conditions apply.

Welsh planning rules usually allow a replacement garage door of similar appearance without an application, unless the home is listed, in a conservation area or subject to conditions.

In Wales a new circuit, or a new supply to a detached garage, is notifiable electrical work and is done by a registered electrician.
