Electric sectional garage doors in Wigston

Choosing an electric sectional door for a home in Wigston

Do I need an electrician?

Most operators run from a switched fused spur or socket near the motor position. If you already have one, the fitting is straightforward. If a new circuit is needed, that is notifiable electrical work in some UK nations and we tell you on the quote how it will be handled.

Can my existing manual sectional be motorised?

Often, yes, if the door is in good order and properly balanced. Converting a manual door to powered operation changes the safety position, so the door must be checked and set up to the powered-door standards, not just fitted with a motor.

What rules apply in Wigston?

The planning authority for Wigston is the local district or borough council. A replacement garage door is usually outside planning control, but it is worth a quick check where conditions apply.

In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.

Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.
