Electric sectional garage doors in Barnstaple

Electric sectional garage doors: what matters for Barnstaple garages

How quiet are modern operators?

Belt-driven operators running on a balanced door are quiet enough for integral garages with bedrooms above. Chain drives are robust but louder. We specify the drive type on your quote.

Can my existing manual sectional be motorised?

Often, yes, if the door is in good order and properly balanced. Converting a manual door to powered operation changes the safety position, so the door must be checked and set up to the powered-door standards, not just fitted with a motor.

Do you need permission in Barnstaple?

Planning questions for homes in Barnstaple go to the local district or borough council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.

In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.

If the garage already has a socket near the operator position, no electrical notification is needed. A brand-new circuit is notifiable under Part P in England.
