Electric sectional garage doors in St Neots

Electric sectional garage doors: what matters for St Neots garages

Can I control it from my phone?

Many current operators accept a smart module or have one built in, so you can open, close and check the door from an app. This is useful for deliveries and for checking you shut the door, though it should never replace the safety systems on the door itself.

Can my existing manual sectional be motorised?

Often, yes, if the door is in good order and properly balanced. Converting a manual door to powered operation changes the safety position, so the door must be checked and set up to the powered-door standards, not just fitted with a motor.

Planning and regulations for St Neots homes

St Neots falls under the local district or borough council for planning and building control, which is the place to check if your home is listed or in a conservation area.

In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.

If the garage already has a socket near the operator position, no electrical notification is needed. A brand-new circuit is notifiable under Part P in England.
