Key questions about electric sectional doors in Dundee
Can I control it from my phone?
Many current operators accept a smart module or have one built in, so you can open, close and check the door from an app. This is useful for deliveries and for checking you shut the door, though it should never replace the safety systems on the door itself.
Do I need an electrician?
Most operators run from a switched fused spur or socket near the motor position. If you already have one, the fitting is straightforward. If a new circuit is needed, that is notifiable electrical work in some UK nations and we tell you on the quote how it will be handled.

Do you need permission in Dundee?
If your property in Dundee is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, Dundee City Council is the authority to check with before ordering.
For most Scottish homes a replacement garage door needs no planning application. Listed buildings and conservation areas are the cases to check with the council first.
Electrical work for an operator in Scotland should meet BS 7671 and be certified by a competent electrician; a warrant is not normally needed.

Questions from Dundee customers
Will the door open in a power cut?
Yes, by hand. Pull the emergency release cord and the door can be lifted manually. Some operators also accept a backup battery.
How long do garage door motors last?
With a balanced door and an annual service, a domestic operator commonly gives many years of use. An unbalanced door with tired springs shortens motor life.
Which parts of Dundee do you cover?
We cover Dundee across postcode districts DD1, DD2, DD3, DD4, DD5, along with nearby Carnoustie, St Andrews and Forfar. Dates are agreed when you book.
Do I need planning permission for a new garage door in Dundee?
Usually not for a like-for-like door. In Scotland a visibly different door in a conservation area is likely to need permission, and listed buildings need consent. If in doubt, check with Dundee City Council.
