Choosing a double sectional door for a home in Swansea
One wide door or two single doors?
If your garage has a central pier, two single doors may still make sense. If the opening is clear from side to side, one wide sectional door gives the most usable width and a cleaner look. On some properties removing a central pier is possible, but that is structural work needing proper design, not a decision to make on the doorstep.
What sizes are common in the UK?
Many older double garages have openings of about 14 feet by 7 feet (roughly 4267 by 2134 mm) or 16 feet by 7 feet (about 4877 by 2134 mm). New builds vary, which is why every door is made to the measured opening rather than to a stock size.

Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
Planning and regulations for Swansea homes
Planning questions for homes in Swansea go to Swansea Council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.
A replacement garage door in Wales rarely needs planning permission. Check with the planning authority if your home is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with conditions.

Questions from Swansea customers
How much is a double sectional garage door?
A double insulated sectional door, supplied and fitted with an electric operator, is typically around £3,295–£4,995, depending on width, finish and glazing.
Do I need more headroom for a double door?
Headroom depends more on the track and spring system than the width. Where headroom is tight, a low-headroom version is available.
Do you cover Swansea?
Yes. We cover Swansea, including postcode districts SA1, SA2, SA5. Installation and visit dates depend on installer availability and are agreed when you book.
Do I need planning permission for a new garage door in Swansea?
Usually not. A replacement garage door of similar appearance is normally minor work in Wales, but listed buildings, conservation areas and planning conditions can change that. If in doubt, check with Swansea Council.
Do you also cover towns near Swansea?
Yes. Close to Swansea we also cover Gorseinon (5 mi), Neath (7 mi), Llanelli (10 mi) and Ammanford (12 mi).
