Key questions about double sectional doors in Egham
One wide door or two single doors?
If your garage has a central pier, two single doors may still make sense. If the opening is clear from side to side, one wide sectional door gives the most usable width and a cleaner look. On some properties removing a central pier is possible, but that is structural work needing proper design, not a decision to make on the doorstep.
How long does fitting take?
A double sectional door is still usually a one-day job for a two-person team, including removal of the old door, unless the opening needs building work first.
What can you choose for your Egham garage?
- Window insertsRows of windows in one section for daylight.
- Matching side doorPedestrian door in the same finish.
- Heavier operatorOperator rated for the door area and weight.
- Any designRibbed, large rib, flush, cassette, woodgrain and glazed options.
How much does a double sectional door cost in Egham?
Guide price: £3,295–£4,995 inc VAT. Prices include VAT and fitting. Building work to the opening or a new electrical circuit would be quoted separately.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
Planning and regulations for Egham homes
If your property in Egham is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, the local district or borough council is the authority to check with before ordering.
English planning rules normally treat a replacement garage door as permitted. Listed status, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and estate planning conditions are what can change that.

Questions from Egham customers
Can the door be made to a non-standard width?
Yes. Sectional doors are made to measure, so non-standard widths and heights are normal.
Is a double sectional door heavy to open by hand?
When it is correctly balanced, the springs carry most of the weight. Even so, most people choose electric operation on a double.
Do you cover Egham?
Yes. We cover Egham, including postcode districts GU25, TW18, TW19, TW20. Installation and visit dates depend on installer availability and are agreed when you book.
Will the local district or borough council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask the local district or borough council before ordering.
Do you also cover towns near Egham?
Yes. Close to Egham we also cover Staines (2 mi), Ashford (Surrey) (4 mi), Weybridge (6 mi) and Sunbury-on-Thames (6 mi).
