Double sectional garage doors in Gwynedd
Our double sectional door service covers Gwynedd: Bangor (Gwynedd), Holyhead, Caernarfon and Llangefni, plus the surrounding area, with each door made to measure after a free survey.
A double sectional garage door is a single wide sectional door that spans a two-car opening, typically around 4.3 to 4.9 metres wide, in place of two separate doors. Because it lifts vertically and parks under the ceiling, a double sectional keeps the whole drive clear and lets two cars use the full width of the opening.

What should you know about double sectional doors in Gwynedd?
Can a double door have a pedestrian door in it?
Some ranges offer an integrated wicket door within a sectional door. It is useful on wide doors where there is no separate side door, though it adds cost and has threshold and width limits.
Will a standard operator lift it?
Domestic operators come in ratings for different door areas. Wide doors need an operator rated for the size and weight, and on very wide or heavy doors a more powerful unit or a different drive arrangement is specified.
Does a wider door need different springs?
Yes. A double door is far heavier than a single, so it runs on a larger spring set, usually torsion springs on a longer shaft, and heavier-gauge tracks and cables. These are sized to the exact door weight by the manufacturer.

What rules apply in Gwynedd?
In Wales, replacing a garage door with one of similar appearance is normally treated as minor work that does not need planning permission. Listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and any planning conditions on your property can change that, so check with your local planning authority first if any of these apply.
Planning authorities in Gwynedd include Gwynedd Council and Isle of Anglesey County Council.

Questions about double sectional garage doors in Gwynedd
Can you replace two single doors with one double sectional?
Only if the central pier can be removed safely. That needs structural assessment and often a new lintel, which is arranged separately before the door is ordered.
How much is a double sectional garage door?
A double insulated sectional door, supplied and fitted with an electric operator, is typically around £3,295–£4,995, depending on width, finish and glazing.
Do I need more headroom for a double door?
Headroom depends more on the track and spring system than the width. Where headroom is tight, a low-headroom version is available.

We cover Bangor (Gwynedd), Holyhead, Caernarfon and Llangefni and other towns across Gwynedd.
Do I need planning permission in Gwynedd?
Usually not. A replacement garage door of similar appearance is normally minor work in Wales, but listed buildings, conservation areas and planning conditions can change that. Check with your local planning authority if in doubt.
