What should Hayes homeowners know about double sectional doors?
One wide door or two single doors?
If your garage has a central pier, two single doors may still make sense. If the opening is clear from side to side, one wide sectional door gives the most usable width and a cleaner look. On some properties removing a central pier is possible, but that is structural work needing proper design, not a decision to make on the doorstep.
Does a wider door need different springs?
Yes. A double door is far heavier than a single, so it runs on a larger spring set, usually torsion springs on a longer shaft, and heavier-gauge tracks and cables. These are sized to the exact door weight by the manufacturer.

How much does a double sectional door cost in Hayes?
Guide price: £3,295–£4,995 inc VAT. Prices include VAT and fitting. Building work to the opening or a new electrical circuit would be quoted separately.
Our free survey checks the opening, headroom above it, room either side for the tracks, garage depth and where an operator will be powered from.
What rules apply in Hayes?
Planning questions for homes in Hayes go to the local London borough council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.
English planning rules normally treat a replacement garage door as permitted. Listed status, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and estate planning conditions are what can change that.

Questions from Hayes customers
Can the door be made to a non-standard width?
Yes. Sectional doors are made to measure, so non-standard widths and heights are normal.
How much is a double sectional garage door?
A double insulated sectional door, supplied and fitted with an electric operator, is typically around £3,295–£4,995, depending on width, finish and glazing.
Which parts of Hayes do you cover?
We cover Hayes across postcode districts UB1, UB2, UB3, UB4, UB7, UB11, along with nearby Southall, Uxbridge and Hounslow. Dates are agreed when you book.
Will the local London borough council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask the local London borough council before ordering.
