Double sectional garage doors in Dyfed
Our double sectional door service covers Dyfed: Llanelli, Ammanford, Aberystwyth and Carmarthen, plus the surrounding area, with each door made to measure after a free survey.
A double sectional garage door is a single wide sectional door that spans a two-car opening, typically around 4.3 to 4.9 metres wide, in place of two separate doors. Because it lifts vertically and parks under the ceiling, a double sectional keeps the whole drive clear and lets two cars use the full width of the opening.

What should you know about double sectional doors in Dyfed?
One wide door or two single doors?
If your garage has a central pier, two single doors may still make sense. If the opening is clear from side to side, one wide sectional door gives the most usable width and a cleaner look. On some properties removing a central pier is possible, but that is structural work needing proper design, not a decision to make on the doorstep.
Will a standard operator lift it?
Domestic operators come in ratings for different door areas. Wide doors need an operator rated for the size and weight, and on very wide or heavy doors a more powerful unit or a different drive arrangement is specified.
Can a double door have a pedestrian door in it?
Some ranges offer an integrated wicket door within a sectional door. It is useful on wide doors where there is no separate side door, though it adds cost and has threshold and width limits.

How much does a double sectional door cost in Dyfed?
Guide price: £3,295–£4,995 inc VAT. That covers the door, fitting, removal of a standard old door and VAT; the fixed price follows the free survey.
The survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure width, height, headroom, side room and depth, and look at power for an operator.
What rules apply in Dyfed?
In Wales, replacing a garage door with one of similar appearance is normally treated as minor work that does not need planning permission. Listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and any planning conditions on your property can change that, so check with your local planning authority first if any of these apply.
Planning authorities in Dyfed include Carmarthenshire Council and Ceredigion Council.

Questions about double sectional garage doors in Dyfed
How much is a double sectional garage door?
A double insulated sectional door, supplied and fitted with an electric operator, is typically around £3,295–£4,995, depending on width, finish and glazing.
Is a double sectional door heavy to open by hand?
When it is correctly balanced, the springs carry most of the weight. Even so, most people choose electric operation on a double.
Do I need more headroom for a double door?
Headroom depends more on the track and spring system than the width. Where headroom is tight, a low-headroom version is available.
Which towns in Dyfed do you cover?
We cover Llanelli, Ammanford, Aberystwyth and Carmarthen and other towns across Dyfed.
Do I need planning permission in Dyfed?
Usually not. A replacement garage door of similar appearance is normally minor work in Wales, but listed buildings, conservation areas and planning conditions can change that. Check with your local planning authority if in doubt.
