Double sectional garage doors in Enniskillen

Choosing a double sectional door for a home in Enniskillen

Does a wider door need different springs?

Yes. A double door is far heavier than a single, so it runs on a larger spring set, usually torsion springs on a longer shaft, and heavier-gauge tracks and cables. These are sized to the exact door weight by the manufacturer.

What sizes are common in the UK?

Many older double garages have openings of about 14 feet by 7 feet (roughly 4267 by 2134 mm) or 16 feet by 7 feet (about 4877 by 2134 mm). New builds vary, which is why every door is made to the measured opening rather than to a stock size.

Do you need permission in Enniskillen?

If your property in Enniskillen is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is the authority to check with before ordering.

Northern Ireland planning rules usually allow a replacement garage door in the same opening. Check with the council planning office first if the property is listed or in a conservation area.

Under the Windsor Framework, products placed on the market in Northern Ireland follow EU rules, so doors carry CE marking (with UKNI where a UK body assessed them). UKCA marking on its own is not accepted in Northern Ireland.
