Key questions about double sectional doors in Stockton-on-Tees
Can a double door have a pedestrian door in it?
Some ranges offer an integrated wicket door within a sectional door. It is useful on wide doors where there is no separate side door, though it adds cost and has threshold and width limits.
What sizes are common in the UK?
Many older double garages have openings of about 14 feet by 7 feet (roughly 4267 by 2134 mm) or 16 feet by 7 feet (about 4877 by 2134 mm). New builds vary, which is why every door is made to the measured opening rather than to a stock size.

Planning questions for homes in Stockton-on-Tees go to Stockton-on-Tees Council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.
English planning rules normally treat a replacement garage door as permitted. Listed status, conservation areas, Article 4 directions and estate planning conditions are what can change that.

Questions from Stockton-on-Tees customers
Can you replace two single doors with one double sectional?
Only if the central pier can be removed safely. That needs structural assessment and often a new lintel, which is arranged separately before the door is ordered.
Do I need more headroom for a double door?
Headroom depends more on the track and spring system than the width. Where headroom is tight, a low-headroom version is available.

Do I need planning permission for a new garage door in Stockton-on-Tees?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage.
