What should Keady homeowners know about double sectional doors?
What sizes are common in the UK?
Many older double garages have openings of about 14 feet by 7 feet (roughly 4267 by 2134 mm) or 16 feet by 7 feet (about 4877 by 2134 mm). New builds vary, which is why every door is made to the measured opening rather than to a stock size.
One wide door or two single doors?
If your garage has a central pier, two single doors may still make sense. If the opening is clear from side to side, one wide sectional door gives the most usable width and a cleaner look. On some properties removing a central pier is possible, but that is structural work needing proper design, not a decision to make on the doorstep.

What rules apply in Keady?
If your property in Keady is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate with planning conditions, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is the authority to check with before ordering.
In Northern Ireland a new door within the existing opening generally needs no planning permission. Listed buildings and conservation areas are the exceptions.
Under the Windsor Framework, products placed on the market in Northern Ireland follow EU rules, so doors carry CE marking (with UKNI where a UK body assessed them). UKCA marking on its own is not accepted in Northern Ireland.

Questions from Keady customers
Can the door be made to a non-standard width?
Yes. Sectional doors are made to measure, so non-standard widths and heights are normal.
Do I need more headroom for a double door?
Headroom depends more on the track and spring system than the width. Where headroom is tight, a low-headroom version is available.
Do you cover Keady?
Yes. We cover Keady, including postcode districts BT60. Installation and visit dates depend on installer availability and are agreed when you book.
Do I need planning permission for a new garage door in Keady?
Usually not when the door goes into the existing opening. In Northern Ireland, check first if the property is listed or in a conservation area. If in doubt, check with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
Do you also cover towns near Keady?
Yes. Close to Keady we also cover Armagh (7 mi) and Newry (15 mi).
