Key questions about double sectional doors in St Austell
Does a wider door need different springs?
Yes. A double door is far heavier than a single, so it runs on a larger spring set, usually torsion springs on a longer shaft, and heavier-gauge tracks and cables. These are sized to the exact door weight by the manufacturer.
Can a double door have a pedestrian door in it?
Some ranges offer an integrated wicket door within a sectional door. It is useful on wide doors where there is no separate side door, though it adds cost and has threshold and width limits.

In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.

Questions from St Austell customers
How much is a double sectional garage door?
A double insulated sectional door, supplied and fitted with an electric operator, is typically around £3,295–£4,995, depending on width, finish and glazing.
Can you replace two single doors with one double sectional?
Only if the central pier can be removed safely. That needs structural assessment and often a new lintel, which is arranged separately before the door is ordered.
Which parts of St Austell do you cover?
We cover St Austell across postcode districts PL24, PL25, PL26, along with nearby Truro and Newquay. Dates are agreed when you book.
Will Cornwall Council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask Cornwall Council before ordering.
