Choosing a commercial sectional door for a home in Telford
What size of premises do you cover?
This page covers workshops, small units, garages for vans and plant, and farm buildings. For large loading bays with dock levellers and shelters, a specialist industrial installer is the right route.
How is it different from a domestic door?
Commercial doors open more often and are often bigger, so they use springs rated for higher cycle counts, heavier hardware and operators built for frequent use. The safety requirements for powered doors at work also apply.
What can you choose for your Telford garage?
- High-cycle springsFor doors that open many times a day.
- Vision panelsGlazed rows for light and visibility.
- Service planPlanned maintenance with records.
- Pass doorPedestrian door within the panels.
What will a commercial sectional door cost in Telford?
Guide price: from £3,500 + VAT. Prices include VAT and fitting. Building work to the opening or a new electrical circuit would be quoted separately.
At the free survey we measure everything the manufacturer needs, check the brickwork, lintel and floor, and agree the door details with you.
Do you need permission in Telford?
The planning authority for Telford is Telford & Wrekin Council. A replacement garage door is usually outside planning control, but it is worth a quick check where conditions apply.
In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.
Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.
At work, powered doors must also be maintained under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Questions from Telford customers
How much is a commercial sectional door?
Commercial doors are priced on survey. As a guide, a workshop-sized insulated door with an operator starts from £3,500 plus VAT.
Do you fit loading bay equipment?
No. We fit sectional doors to workshops and small units. Dock levellers, shelters and full loading bays need a specialist industrial door company.
Which parts of Telford do you cover?
We cover Telford across postcode districts TF1, TF2, TF3, TF4, TF7, along with nearby Wellington, Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton. Dates are agreed when you book.
Will Telford & Wrekin Council need to approve my new garage door?
Usually not. Replacing a garage door, including with an electric sectional door, does not normally need planning permission in England unless the house is listed, in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or has planning conditions affecting the garage. If in doubt, ask Telford & Wrekin Council before ordering.
Do you also cover towns near Telford?
Yes. Close to Telford we also cover Wellington (3 mi), Shrewsbury (13 mi) and Wolverhampton (15 mi).
