Planning and regulations for Berkhamsted homes
Planning questions for homes in Berkhamsted go to the local district or borough council. Most garage door swaps need no permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are the exceptions.
In England you can usually replace a garage door without planning permission. Check first if the house is listed, sits in a conservation area or Article 4 area, or was built with planning conditions covering the garage.
Operators normally run from a switched fused spur; adding one to an existing circuit is not notifiable in England, but a new circuit falls under Part P.
At work, powered doors must also be maintained under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
